"What is prayer? For me, prayer is the surge of the heart; it is a simple look turned toward heaven, it is a cry of recognition and of love, embracing both trial and joy." In this busy, complicated world of ours, it is easy to get distracted and disconnected from a life of prayer. Children sometimes remind their parents to pray before eating or going to bed; youth and young adults often look down upon those who choose to pray. And yet Jesus always prayed. He prayed regularly in the synagogue and Temple. He prayed before the prediction of his passion and during the transfiguration. Jesus even taught his disciples how to pray with the words, Our Father.
Here at St. Mother Teresa of Calcutta has several different groups, each with a different target audience. They gather together for prayer, fellowship and cultural activities. We invite you to develop your spiritual lives with us. If you are interested in participating in any of our spiritual life activities, please contact the Parish Office either by email or by calling 312-842-6777 (STWS) or 312-842-7979 (SBWS). Sacred Heart Club
The devotion to the Sacred Heart (also known as the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus, Sacratissimum Cor Iesu in Latin) is one of the most widely practised and well-known Catholic devotions, wherein the heart of Jesus is viewed as a symbol of "God's boundless and passionate love for mankind.
“The heart of Jesus is the ultimate symbol of God’s mercy; but it is not an imaginary symbol, it is a real symbol, which represents the center, the source from which salvation for all humanity gushed forth.” The Sacred Heart Club is a group of women who have a special devotion to the Sacred Heart of Jesus. They pray regularly for the parish and the universal Church. In addition, they provide a great source of friendship, camaraderie, and spiritual support for one another.
